Ma Deeters
About This Spot
There’s a comforting rhythm that welcomes you the moment you step into Ma Deeters — a warmly worn local favorite that feels like a crossroads between laid-back northern Michigan charm and genuine neighborhood spirit. Nestled along Deeter Road in Luzerne, the restaurant hums with a steady, easy-going pace, where smiles and familiar greetings create an inviting space that encourages lingering over good food and conversation.
The atmosphere here strikes a delicate balance: lively yet relaxed, with plenty of nooks that suggest stories shared over many meals. It’s clear this is a place where locals unwind after a day on the trails or a weekend retreat, one that embraces visitors with the same warmth, making everyone feel like part of the ongoing story. The outdoor seating comes alive in warmer months, with an ORV-friendly vibe that perfectly suits its northern setting and adds a touch of adventurous spirit to the hospitality.
Food at Ma Deeters arrives with a kind of thoughtful familiarity — dishes that both comfort and surprise. Whether it’s a rich, savory prime rib dinner after a day exploring or a vibrant, house-tuned Bloody Mary setting the tone for a lazy Sunday, each plate invites a shared experience rather than just a meal. You’ll find smoked trout dip and build-your-own-style sides that sing with the region’s flavors, alongside classics like Philly sandwiches, homemade coleslaw, and inventive takes on pizza that never feel stuck in a mold.
Part of Ma Deeters’ charm lies in its genuine connection to its community, reflected in the kitchen’s dedication to making familiar ingredients feel special and the way the staff weaves humor and heart into every interaction. This is a spot that feels quietly alive — where the food, service, and relaxed setting all settle into a seamless experience that comfortably stretches across meals and moments.
Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning as a regular, Ma Deeters has the easy confidence of a place where time slows just enough to savor the simple pleasures — good company, a well-crafted meal, and the feeling of belonging to something welcoming and steady in its own right.

Every Sunday we come here and leave with no disappointments. Staff is friendly & has good sense of humor. The atmosphere is very fitting & the cooking is always great which they just got a new cook who makes some killer food! It's also ORV friendly which is a plus!

My husband and I love visiting Ma Deeters! ! We own a cabin nearby and have been there countless times because the food, drinks, atmosphere, and staff are all fantastic. We especially enjoy hanging out outside during the summer. Every visit, we’re treated like locals and like family—it’s one of our favorite things to do when we go up to the cabin. We want to give a special shoutout to Candy, Rina, Jessica, and DeeDee for their amazing service. Everyone always greets us with a smile, making each visit so enjoyable. If you’re in the Luzurne, Michigan area, Ma Deeters is a must-visit!

Visiting from out of town but have heard good things through family that this was the place to try when coming up north. Has been around for decades. I was not disappointed. Came for dinner on a Saturday night. Got the prime rib special with mashed potatoes Mac n cheese. Also ordered the bison burger with onion rings. Would recommend everything. The batter on the onion rings are perfection. The cook and flavor of the bison are worth coming back for. So came for lunch the next day and had to try the pizza, chicken tenders with fries. The pizza was too greasy but overall good flavor. The tenders were good have had better but can't complain. Wish I lived locally so I could come every week.

We have made this a weekly visit. This place has some awesome food! Their meatloaf is incredible, they have the best cheese curds, crab Rangoons. There is usually a special posted. I’m telling you they must have a trained chef, not just a cook, to come up with the menus they have. Exceptional!

We stopped by for lunch and found the interior to be quite pleasant, exuding a charming "up north" atmosphere. We began our meal with some delicious cheese curds. I chose the fish basket, which came with two pieces of cod and fries, and opted to upgrade to onion rings. Both the fish and onion rings were excellent. My companion ordered the cowboy burger with an extra patty, and that was also really tasty. The service was good, and there was ample parking available (at least ten side-by-sides parked outside & still plenty of room). It's definitely worth stopping by! My only (minor) complaint was that they served Pepsi instead of Coke! Just a personal preference.

Dined here twice while on vacation in the area. Plenty of easy in and out parking for those towing toys. The food was good and very reasonably priced, as were the libations. The staff was friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere with plenty of space, several TV's and a bar which has the "local watering hole vibe". Beautiful outdoor seating! Try the smoked trout dip and mini tacos.
